Expeditions in the Peak District

Kinder ScoutThe Peak Panel have requested that any groups using either the White or Dark Peak areas notify the panel using the new red form.

The Peak National Park would like to extend the support that they give to Award groups coming into the Peak District. At the moment this is difficult as the Award and the Peak Panel are not notified of groups operating in the White Peak, and so we are unable to offer help and advice to these groups or let them know of any potential problems or hot spots. The Peak Panel is therefore requesting that all groups who are going to use the Peak District (White or Dark) notify the Panel Secretary and Walsall; this should be done by completing the red form which can be downloaded from this website.

No practices or ventures into the Peak District will be approved unless a copy of the red form is submitted to Walsall

If you require a panel assessor you will also need to submit a green form.

If your practice or venture goes into wild country for any part you must also submit a green form.

This will allow the Peak Park and the Award to see which areas of the Peak are used most regularly and to anticipate any future needs of Award Groups.

Some notifications have already reached Anna so thanks to those groups who have already responded.

What is this form for?
  • for telling the Peak Expedition Panel about expeditions in Normal Country

Why are they asking for this information?
  • to enable the Peak District National Park Authority to gather statistics on the number of young people visiting the Park
  • to enable the Peak Expedition Panel to more closely understand the movement of Award teams within the National Park
  • to enable us to target advice accordingly

Why do we have to do this now?
Due to the very large numbers of Award groups coming into the Peak District National Park, we need to be able to monitor activity more closely. In addition, it will enable us to target local advice more effectively. For example, if we know of a problem at a campsite you are planning to use, we will let you know.
